I've been working as a contractor on Overpass for three years, and my experience hasn't been great. Finding a stable job or contract has been challenging. The platform mainly offers sales and appointment setting jobs, which is quite limiting. Initially, employees used to reach out, but that has dwindled over time.
One major issue is the scarcity of available jobs despite the increasing number of contractors on the site. When I did receive an offer, it fell through because the employer cited high Overpass fees as a hindrance. This has happened multiple times, making the job search frustrating.
To make matters worse, Overpass has reduced the pay scale for contractors. What used to be $7+ hourly has been lowered to $3+ hourly. This downward trend in pay is disheartening for those seeking fair compensation for their work.
Additionally, the platform allows employers to abruptly end contracts, adding another layer of uncertainty to the job-seeking process. After almost two years of searching for a job on Overpass, I can't say I've had a positive experience. It seems like a challenging place to secure a decent job, and I would caution others to manage their expectations accordingly.
