I decided to terminate my membership, an action that should have been straightforward. Several months before what I presumed was the conclusion of my 6-month contract, I informed them of my intent to cancel. Oddly, I had never received a contract via email or been made aware of its terms.
When the contract's presumed end date arrived, I contacted the gym to confirm the cancellation, only to be informed that an additional month's notice was required, and they intended to charge me for the subsequent month. Frustrated, I provided a comprehensive analysis of our email correspondence, demonstrating the validity of my original notice. Their response was disheartening; they disclaimed any responsibility for keeping track of customer notices, essentially shifting the blame to me.
In the end, I had to resort to canceling my direct debit to put an end to the recurring charges. This gym's unprofessionalism and indifference to customer concerns were exasperating and bordering on unethical.
